As part of The Trust Factor 2011 week Trustbuilder Awards were presented at a reception hosted by the Australian Ambassador, Kim Beazley.  

Trustbuilding in the Community

Terry Flood, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Jubilee Jobs, founded in 1981, for her work in building bridges of trust across the economic and racial divides in the Washington community. Jubilee Jobs, a non-profit workforce development organization committed to helping the poor, disadvantages and unemployed, has helped over 22,000 people obtain jobs and self-sufficiency.

 

 

Trustbuilding in the Nation

Dr. Gail Christopher, Vice President for Programs at the W. K. Kellogg Foundation of Battle Creek, MI, for her work addressing racial divides and inequities in our country as she seeks to bring health to communities. Dr. Christopher is the driving force behind moving the Kellogg foundation to a commitment to racial healing and racial equity.

 

 

Trustbuilding in the World

 Dr. Douglas Johnston, Founder and President of the International Center for Religion and Diplomacy, and Azhar Hussain, Senior Vice President for Preventive Diplomacy at ICRD, for their work in bridging religious divides.

Through his books, including the seminal Religion - the Missing Dimension of Statecraft, Johnson has focused the importance of understanding and respecting the faith of those in other cultures for the US foreign policy establishment and academia. He has made his work practial in Sudan, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Hussain initiated a program that has trained over 27,000 madrasa leaders in Pakistan. ICRD's efforts include encouraging a broadening of the curriculum and the teaching of critical thinking skills; teaching conflict resolution and dialogue facilitation skills, and equipping newly-trained teachers with skills to pass on what they have learned to other madrasa leaders.
